Ayurvedic Garshana & Udvartana

Ayurvedic Garshana Massage - Raw Silk Gloves Massage

Traditionally, raw silk gloves are used for the exfoliating practice of Ayurvedic dry skin brushing - Garshana Massage.

Silk gloves exfoliation is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment, featuring a dry lymphatic skin brushing with a silk gloves, followed by herbal oil treatment. The brushing (garshana) increases circulation, cleanses the skin and stimulates the removal of accumulated toxins, so that the herbal oil treatment penetrates deeply. In Ayurveda, dry skin brushing is understood to release static electricity from the skin, thereby supporting lymphatic flow and gently exfoliate the skin, aiding in receptivity of the massage oils, and smoothing rough surfaces. Garshana is also thought to minimize the appearance of cellulite.

A form of Vishesh (deep) massage that removes blockages to increase blood flow, improve digestion, and awaken the energy sources and deeper levels of consciousness. Recommended for feelings of heaviness or sluggishness as this can reduce tension and clear areas of stagnation (root cause of pain).

Garshana is a revitalizing treatment and can be done with hand-made raw silk gloves, woven wool or pure cotton.
